front wheel ideas

Following my disaster, I feel I must repair the bike....

I'm wondering about using some forks from a 26" wheel mountain bike and the stem above.  I'm not even sure they will be compatible with the head set, maybe it has some peculiar French size.

My idea is to lift the handlebars up and forward.  I'll see what happens....

  1. I'm very sorry to read about your accident. Your poor bike!

I found your blog because I just bought an NS22 on Craig's List. I think it has most of the original components and is in very good working order. It's a five speed with a rear drum brake. I'm going to have to do some more research to figure out what year it's from. The paint is mint green with orange decals. Anyway, the only parts that aren't original are the seatpost and saddle. I'd like to replace both - the previous owner had put on a very poor quality post and saddle. However, I have no idea what diameter the seatpost is. Do you have any idea?

I've only had the bike about two days, and already I'm in love! Thanks so much for writing this blog. It's nice to know there's someone else out there who appreciates this bike!

  2. I'm not sure about the seat post diameter.

    Have you found out yourself?

I'll be putting in a new post soon. I have not been able to find new forks, at least not without sacrificing another bike, which I don't want to do.

I will try bending the forks back into shape and keeping my eye on them. I have a pair of 24" mountain bike wheels, so I'll try them and keep my eye out for a replacement original size front wheel some time.

Sorry for my lack of attention to this vitally important blog.
